In fact, Ebbinghaus forgot 2/3 of the material within one day but not the rest, meaning that if the info stays for one day that particular info is permanently memorized.

The Spacing Effect

This German psychologist came up with another theory by the name “The Spacing Effect.” According to this theory, we learn better and easier when we study the info more times and if we space it out over some certain period of time.

For example, if you need to give a speech you will learn it better if you repeatedly study the speech one week before that particular event. This is in comparison to if you learn the speech the night before the event.
